Spring Reading Thing 2011

I'm not really sure I *should* be linking up to Spring Reading Thing 2011 over at Callapidder Days, but ...I am. (I have a major addiction to books--once I start reading a book, EVERYTHING else gets put on the back burner until that book or series is completed. I'm trying so hard to balance reading and Let's see how that works out in this challenge!)

Alright-So here's my list!

Books I'm re-reading:
My Heart's At Home by Jill Savage (I love this book and I want to reread it again to try to incorporate some of her ideas into our busy life!)

Pride and Prejudice (Can I just go ahead and admit I've never read it although I absolutely love the movie? The formal language is so hard to deal with, when I'm usually looking at reading for an escape into a fairytale..but I *WILL* make it though this time!)
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (this has been on my list before and I was never able to grab it!)

The Mom I Want to Be
Love and Respect
The Language of Love and Respect
Turn up the Heat

Books to Read Aloud to Reagan:
-20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (Children's Version)
-The Three Musketeers (Children's Version)
-Little House on the Prairie

Now, for the big question-how do you join?

Create a list of some books you’d like to read or finish reading this spring. Write a blog post including the list of books you want to read and post on your blog. Then make sure to link back to Callapidder Days' Spring Reading Thing 2011. Go here to see the posting rules! Good luck and have fun!

***OH! And if you're reading this before 3/23/11 at 12:00 pm EST, remember to check out our giveaway here! Great additions to your children's (or neices/nephews/friends!) Easter baskets!

  1. I loved The Guernsey book. It is one of my all time favorite books now. I listened to the audio and read the hardcover. Pride and Prejudice is another one of my all time favorites. :)

  2. Oh, I tried to read Little House aloud to my son and he just wouldn't go for it! One of the few times I wish I had a girl. ;)

    Happy reading!

  3. Good idea to read the children's version of 20,000 leagues under the sea. I read the regular version out loud to my 11 year old. Snooze. So much detail, I skipped alot.

  4. As a lover of P & P - when my friends are having a hard time with the book, I recommend the movies and it has helped them! I just started playing the A & E version while I exercise. Have a great Spring of reading.

  5. P & P is one of my all time faves and I adored Guernsey. Have fun!

  6. P & P is so worth it if you can make it through the language. I actually think it makes it better.

    Great list!

  7. I enjoy a good challenge, but understand as I can get a bit addicted to reading as well.

    Have fun!

  8. Looks like a great list, Leah! I really enjoyed the Guernsey book when I read it. And I have that Jill Savage book on my bookshelf...but must admit I haven't read it yet. Thanks for being part of SRT '11!

  9. I can totally relate to getting all caught up in reading. Loved Guernsey! My heart's at home sounds very interesting. Happy Reading!

  10. Read Pride and Prejudice!! Austen is one of my favorite authors!! :)

  11. Guernsey is a terrific book. Happy reading!

  12. I love Pride and Prejuidice. I think since you've already seen the movie, it will make it a more enjoyable read.
Have fun reading the classics with your girl. I think it's so fun when kids experience those stories for the first time.

  13. Love P&P, my 14 year old just read it oo and loved it. You can do it!

  14. Guernsey is a great book! I read it last year and really enjoyed it!

Little House on the Prairie is one of my favorite series. I may just have to do a re-read this year with my little girl!

I just tried reading P&P for a Jane Austen challenge I am hosting and just could not get into it! I LOVE the movie though so am hoping to give it another go in the near future!

    Happy Spring and Happy Reading!

  15. Don't feel guilty -- just do it!!

I also am going to try to read Little House to my BOY.

  16. Hi -- fellow homeschooling mom here, and I'm a new follower of your blog, too. I love your list. Love and Respect is a WONDERFUL book. My husband and I read it together for a church Bible study and it really changed the way I view him - so much I didn't know about being a wife.

So glad to have found your blog - your design is cute!

  17. Good luck on your list! I tried to read Little House books to my daughter, not her thing.
I hope you post what you think of the Guernsey book.
    Happy Reading!

  18. Looks like a great list...and I've not read P&P or seen the movie. GASP!

My older daughter and I read through a number of the LHotP books together when she was younger (4ish), but I don't think my younger daughter who is 4½ now (named Reagan, BTW) would be interested...she likes pictures! :) Hope your Reagan enjoys it.

  19. I've read the Gurnsey book! It was a really good and a quick read. I love that you put read-alouds on your list. I don't know why I didn't think to do that. Probably because I'm still figuring out how to put it in our day regularly.
